Coronavirus in the Czech Republic


Tourism was heavily affected by Covid-19 in the Czech Republic. Town and cities are empty but tourist attractions are open and running. Numbers of infected people are very low so this might be the perfect time to visit Český Krumlov, UNESCO town in Southern Bohemia.

Face masks

Outdoors – When you are out and when you walk in the streets of Český Krumlov or Prague you DON´T HAVE TO WEAR A FACE MASK.

Indoors  – In buildings YOU HAVE TO WEAR A FACE MASK.

Public transport – While traveling on bus or on train YOU HAVE TO WEAR A FACE MASK.

Exceptions – YOU DON´T HAVE TO WEAR A FACE MASK while eating or drinking in restaurant s. When you stop eating you should put the mask on again. You can also take the face mask off while eating on the bus or train. Also, small children up to two years of age or people whose mental or physical state does not allow them to wear a face mask don´t have to wear one. You also don’t have to wear it while doing a sport or inside swimming pools or saunas.

Other measures

Restaurants and clubs have to close at 12pm.

Measures from October 5th:

INDOORS: Maximum of 10 people can join an indoor event.

OUTDOORS: Maximum of 20 people can join an outdoor event.

 

Covid-19 situation in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic wasn´t particularly affected by a coronavirus in terms of infected people. The Czech Republic has 10 million inhabitants. Only 44 000 got infected by Covid-19 and only about 500 died of coronavirus infection. On the other hand, the Czech Republic experiences the higthest rise of covid cases in Europe.

Covid-19 situation in Český Krumlov

Numbers of people infected by coronavirus in Český Krumlov are very low. Despite that, the town of Český Krumlov is almost empty with very few tourists. This is especially true during the week. The majority of tourist attractions in the town are running including the Wiseman Free Walking Tour which runs daily at 10:30 am and 2 pm from the main square. It´s MANDATORY to make a reservation for the Wiseman Free Walking Tour for safety reasons.
